Nice!

I liked it, I think it was cute. I haven't seen any of the other episodes but I'll go check them out. My only suggestion for improvement is to use a kindof... panning shot at some point, so you know where all the characters are in relation to each other, and see the entire chubbalope at some point during the whole talking bit. It's a tiny thing and you obviously can work out where they are standing since it's constant - but your animation is so good the little finicky crap is the only things left to improve on with your series, assuming they're all this cool. Fantastic lip syncing too! Nicely done. Great unique style.

Classy.

As soon as you heard he died, you were thinking 'ooh ooh I could get a good score on a flash movie with that!' weren't you? Yea, I bet you were. The 3rd picture doesn't even look like it IS Steve - this isn't a tribute, it's a peice of shit. I agree, the man was a legend - but as you said, you never watched his show! I did, and this doesn't do anything except lament how disgraceful a vulture you are, trying to win popularity on the back of a successful mans death.

As far as flash goes, there's nothing in this anyway, so I feel my score is justified. Plus I really don't think that is Steve in the 3rd photo! I hope someone with some skill is taking the time to release a decent tribute in a few days.

It's a well done peice

Fart, poo, cock, titties, anus. The humour is pubescent and pretty sad, but it works wonders on the target audience here on NG, and you pull it together to make another fantastic wee movie - well done again! Keep it up, I look forward to watching episode three - though the humour may be low, it's a sad day when you can't enjoy a well animated joke about genetalia!

Not a bad wee imitation

The most glaring problem with this is pace - it's really slow and not so 'mad' as the krinkels originals are. Every dude to die is kinda... 'a big deal' and the only thing going on. The appeal of madness is the shear volume of deaths and things going on all at once. Your emulation of the style is excellent, the music correct and things - it's just the pace that separates this from the real deal. That and the lack of music in the middle - it might've been better to have had more of a battle with the last guy than just killing him straight away, built up a 'final battle' then he's dead just like that! Same with the other 'bosses'. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed most of it when there was music going, I just noticed the lack of pace and thought I should suggest it as a way to improve. Congratulations on the award!

Anything with Office Space music does it for me!

That was very good! Really nice laidback kind of going on. I liked how you cut between the two parties, nicely done. Some of the humour was a bit kinda lame, some of the gay thing - just because it's done to death really. Other parts were really good though - it felt very 'Team America' to me which gave it a nice feel. Fantastic execution of a fun idea, excellent work! There's very little for you to improve here - I would just suggest a little work on sound quality (tank sfx). You're an excellent animator.

Very nice!

Well, I enjoyed it. The music just stopped before the end for me which was a bugger, nothing like a silent flash movie to make you bored! However as far as random stuff goes it was quite enjoyable, nicely done. a year + after the fact, but who doesn't like seeing reviews of their old movies ?! heh.

BritishMoose responds:

Haha, very true. Sorry about the sound, but (as you may have guessed) I'm not gonna be doing anything about it anytime soon xD
Thanks very much for the review, I do enjoy responding to them. Be sure to check out my new projects which should be hitting NG later this year!

I really enjoyed the start of this!

I was without doubt putting it in my favourites, and then it went to pot and I seriously reconsidered - but I did it anyway since the start is so amusing. It's a real shame you did that with the end of it, this could've been frontpage material. However the start was great heh keep it up. Man it's such a waste! Loved the eyes and your style of mouths, and the colouring too - and the figures, I liked everything about the first bit.

Well executed!

I haven't seen any of the other episodes, I'm loading ep2 at the moment, but you know - dialup. This is really quite amusing - it doesn't try and blow you away with graphics or anything, just entertain. And for that it gets a 4, but I don't think a stick figure will ever get a 5 out of me - but maybe later episodes are graphically more impressive - that's the only thing that's weak in this, graphics. The voicing is fantastic, quality is nice (too nice, attributing 1meg to the file size of this I would guess), but yes. You could feel the irritation in the 'inner self', which is a skill to create - well done!

The-Swain responds:

The original file was maybe twice as large as this, but I figured out how to take it off of stereo mode, which effectively cut the file size in half.

And although I don't agree that Blockhead is a stick figure, I do agree that the graphics in this episode are nothing to brag about. It took me about a year, but if you've seen Ep.7 by now, you'll notice that I've gotten at least a little better at it :D

Halarious

Ah, your preloader dinosaur thing - I haven't found something so amusing for ages, thanks for that! I don't mean to be mean with that, it's absolutely great!
In the movie, pretty well done really - great stuff, nothing new but I suppose you know that. That you stopped the action to let the camera move was a bit halfassed, see if you can figure out how to not do that in future (run the action in a movie clip within the main clip and move that during action).
Geez that dinosaur is great!

Well.

The effect is somewhat good, but ... in terms of flash animation, it's pretty halfassed. Learn to use movie clips within your main clip, so you could have fish tails swishing, jellyfish moving etc. so it gives it a bit more credibility. I had to score low because this is just a bunch of really halfassed graphics tweened over very long periods, the best thing is the music and you didn't create that so no credit. I was expecting alien sea too, not poorly drawn dolphins, better drawn clownfish, and stingrays that pop out of nowhere. So yes you've got potential I suppose, just put effort into your graphics next time. That's what let you down here.

clarke0 responds:

You must actually animate with Flash... darn. Yeah you have a point, but I meant for this to be a quickie (I made it in an afternoon and a morning.) I was hoping the style, color use, and effects would be enough to leave a better impression, but that seems not to be the case. I do know how to animate, I'll work harder with the moving parts for my next production.

I'm not putting my lips on that.
