A nice peice of work

Not a bad little animation. The fairly simple story was pretty dry and the whole thing didn't rattle my dags at all to be honest. However the animation was at times great, however other times it seemed a little amateurish, tweens too slow, that kind of thing. And the 'cartoony' style of running is fine if you're going there, but it wasn't well executed. The sound effects were appropriate but pretty cutty without music, which would have added a lot to this film. The final shot knocked my vote down a notch - sure, you drew a stripper, but just because it's a good graphic doesn't make it suits this flash in the slightest. Don't let this review get you down though (you'd say it didn't anyway) as it really is a promising little thing, you've got the skill there. An increased pace and a more interesting story with some background music could make your next effort a stunner.

remyzero responds:

hey thanks, this was what I call my very first flash animation. It took a long time, and has been completed for quite sometime now, I just needed to re-sync the sound. I hope that my animation has improved for the next one that I am working on. I will keep you advice in mind. thanks.

Kinda Ok.

I haven't seen many tutorials on here so I'm flying blind, but your writing is friendly (a couple of gramatical errors I can't be bothered finding for you sorry) and the mood is light, it's a good little help thing. Ironically it seems kinda fresh itself though heh. Just the graphics weren't you know, awe inspiring or anything. It's alright, pity new people will never see it buried in the portal!

FoyvenMaven responds:

Well, you're supposed to ficus on the ideas being taught. ^^;

It's ok.

Well, no points for originality. Things you might like to do something about for your next one - don't have everything happen without any scrolling or movement of the background - these days flash has to be a bit more than a single scene to be anything decent. The bullet time doesn't really work when they aren't zooming in on the action or anything. The bullets were crap, the contrast of the yellow on the background was too hard to see - black would be a better bet. The blood wasn't detailed at all.. it's the little details like that that set a decent flash apart from the halfassed, and really take so little time to do when you consider how long it took to make the whole flash. It's alright, character movement and so on was pretty good, maybe you'd find it all more rewarding if you made up your own story and animated that instead of super random violence featuring other peoples creations! I'm sorry this sounds so negative.

Erikcq responds:

Thanks a LOT for your review. You know, this is the way I want the reviews to be. I mean, I love the ones that say "Oh, that was great!" (hehe), but this one here, tells me what I have to do to improve my movies, and what was ok.
Thanks again.

Fantastic!

That was awesome. Great work! I loved the animation of the character, the first glance was sweet as. Your mouth syncing is pretty impressive, I know how much that sucks, and since you had a decent framerate (another positive) I know it must've taken ages. The shading was great, like the grass - simple and effective. Your style is fantastic.

And for the nitpicking, for your next movie to do even better -
The preloader was pretty crappy. It doesn't even work properly - just edit the newgrounds one, it's right there under the submit flash to the portal button and they want you to do it! The loader could also use a title, a picture of the main character standing there or something, to give it some ... class I spose. That's actually the only thing I remember that I didn't particularly like, except for some bits where i thought the hair was looking a bit funny, or when the character is walking along and I thought it would've been better if he was sketch-animated (in a loop!) rather than a boring tween walk. I hope you know what bit I'm talking about.

I really liked this movie, it's a real work of art I hope you're proud of it!

Svend-1 responds:

thanks for the compliments

about the preloader: my friend made one and stuck it on there, i never saw it before the movie was uploaded =/ i'll be sure to test one next time

thanks, im not really proud of the movie itself, just really proud at the fact that i could complete a large project as such (the real point of making this)
peace

Halarious!

Excellent work, I was reading through reviews while it loaded and was expecting real excrement, but this is actually funny as! I'm fresh from blamming a movie involving Salad Fingers dropping one on your grave, so I thought I'd take a look. I just like your sense of humour for doing this, knowing full well the numbers of mindless pop supporters there are on NG for Salad Fingers. Firth's probably big enough to take a bit of light humour against Salad Fingers, it comes with popularity and it's not defeating what it's about at all. This is very amusing, I loved your gun echo, and the credit music together with dog on head pissing was just ... crowning moment of amusement. It's so childish, overdone and thus one of the best laughs I've had on NG in a while! Keep it up, don't be shaped by reviews like the rest of us are!

On a technical note, optimise your audio. 2 meg is way too big for this file, and poor guys like me on dialup suffer under crap optimisation!

Maverick0 responds:

Hahaha! Is there really a movie of Salad Fingers dropping a loaf on my grave? I've GOT to see that! How can I find it? E-mail me and let me know:

Breath of fresh ass

A very nice effort, I know how long frame by frame can take. She doesn't get warped either which is cool. You have good imagery, your ideas are excellent. A bit more detail in the pictures, a higher framerate and a smoother ride all round (yea, I know it takes forever to animate 18fps rather than 12 but it's worth it in the end) and you'll be kicking some ass in no time flat.

Also use a preloader that doesn't automatically start when it's loaded, I missed a bit of the start. The music fit well, the length was fine.

What I really like is the originality! Keep it up, hope to see more from you on here soon!

Astropuff responds:

I think your the first one to notice I used 8 fps. I set a handicap for myself when I started this flash :P

I got the preloader off a tutorial in newgrounds, but thanks for telling me about that. I'll go find a new tutorial that involves pressing a play button after it loads.

Amusing

Your preloader image really does no justice at all to the graphics of this movie, perhaps you should do something about that. Shadows always look good with no effort, heh. Anyway, it's really well done you've captured the whole excessive boring batman intro thing they do (like anyone cares) and then made a dick of such a 'badass'. Your backgrounds were sexy (yes, sexy). Great work! Good voice work too, though perhaps it went on a bit too long.

I read some of the other reviews, and I agree with you this isn't gagging for a sequel. You could mock a different superhero if you really wanted to though, heh.

HappyHarry responds:

I admittedly rushed the preloader image, thanks for using the word sexy...sexy?!? Me?

Very funny

Excellent work on this, I just saw the movie yesterday so it's nice and fresh in my mind, heh. Great humour ('is that even possible') and general all round praise for this movie! 5.

ChroniclesOFGlendale responds:

The wall that the toilets were climbing on is colored like a mario sprite! (a little cool easter egg) I forgot to tell the guy that reviewed named "Automatic") Thanks for the review

What the hell is this?

People on NG will clearly rate everything based on graphic quality alone, nevermind about there being any plot, development, sound, anything at all else except shaded blue character thing! This is one of those flashes that should never see the light of day, that it is 700k blows my mind. It makes no sense, does it in an unfunny way, the knife doesn't actually go into his head so it's halfassed as well, the scribbles at the end are really crappy. To give you some credit though, the dots coming up from the back were well done how they all spread out. Pity there wasn't anything else. 1.

DANNYESLOCO responds:

Oye me, a el MIKIMBIN no le gusta eso! te va dar un wamaso por el dinkinding si siges con esa mierda

An Intro sequence

You synced the action up with the music very well so great stuff there, including the dialouge and crap it was a good effort. But! This really isn't an episode but the start of a program - I was just thinking 'hey, this might be alright' and then bang it's finished, leaving me thinking 'wtf?' Your ideas are good, perhaps a bit of work on the graphics would do you good - not entirely sure if I can give any solid pointer in regards to this, except perhaps drawing more straight lines for the background rather than silly-putty castles.

BMFMagnus responds:

Your idea, now that I think of it, was the original concept for this story. This was to be the beginning of Episode 1, but since this project took so long I forgot about it and made this its own episode.

When I make Episode 1, I'll probably tack this onto the beginning of it and let it run as such.

Thanks for the review! As additional thanks I'll put you in the credits for Episode 1.

I'm not putting my lips on that.
